Five Favourites : Bronzers

The sun is finally starting to show it’s face around here in Vancouver, which immediately has me switching into Spring/Summer mode when it comes to my makeup. While I wear bronzer all year round (let’s get real, I need all the warmth I can get for my complexion!) but I get a bit more consistent and serious about it this time of year. Here’s 5 of my favourite bronzing powders, and the reasons why I love each one…

My tried and true bronzer I’ve repurchased many times over is Tarte’s Park Avenue Princess Matte Waterproof. It’s slightly cooler in tone and doesn’t lean too golden, but the main reason I love it is because it lasts all darn day long without going muddy or patchy. It’s my solid, tried and true that I always keep in my collection regardless of what else I’m loving at the moment. 

Similar in tone is Charlotte Tilbury’s Filmstar Bronze and Glow, which has the benefit of having a built in highlighting powder, which in itself is stunning, and both powders are silky smooth. This particular product is marketed as a bit of a contour/shaping powder, and while it’s slightly warmer then most contouring powders, it’s also slightly cooler than most bronzers. It comes in two shades to suite light-medium and then medium-deep complexions. 

When it comes to all over bronzing, and something that is also made for wear on the body, I love Stila’s Stay All Day Bronzer for Face and Body*. The compact is huge, so there is great bang for your buck, the colours are great true bronze shades (I have medium, and it comes in light and dark as well) and it blends out really well over collar bones and shoulders, or even down the shins. 

If I’m wanting a little glow with my faux tan, then Hourglass Ambient Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light* is stunning. Unlike how it looks in the pan, it isn’t actually shimmery on the skin, but rather has this incredible glow to it. This is a fantastic option if you’re not feeling your best, or your complexion is looking dull. 

Finally if you’re wanting something more golden-warm and that comes in a few shades to suite you best then Too Faced Chocolate Soleil* (which comes in Milk, Chocolate and Dark). Besides the fact that I get hungry every time I open this compact, because it does in fact smell like chocolate, it is a classic formula that is well loved in the industry for a reason!
