Makeup Inspired By Your Lunch? | Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette Review
I’m about to share something with you all that might make you think I am crazy: I HATE peanut butter. Yep, that’s right, I hate the one thing most people love. Believe it.
So as you can imagine, when the Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette showed up, inspired by the lunches of many and claiming to have a ‘peanut buttery twist’ I was kind of horrified…that is until I actually took a sniff of it and was pleased to find out it didn’t smell of peanut butter, but rather of vanilla and chocolate. Phew! In fact, I am even more delighted to say that I really love this palette, so who woulda thought?

First and foremost, the packaging for Too Faced’s Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette is absolutely freaking adorable, which is no surprise from the brand that loves fun and kitschy. I love that it is a metal housing (Too Faced used to released their palettes in cardboard packaging which just isn’t sturdy nor easy to keep clean) with magnet closure and mirror inside.
Like most of Too Faced’s small palettes, Peanut Butter and Jelly is comprised of 9 shades, and in this case they are almost entirely warm toned. The inspiration came from how popular the shade ‘Peanut Butter’ was when the brand released their Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette, and spawned the theme for the whole palette. Of course naturally, peanut butter is often paired with jelly, which explains the pops of purple and I think actually go really well with the other shades chosen.
As far as formula and pigmentation, I was really impressed with this palette. I’ve had mixed results from the brand when it comes to the texture of their shadows as sometimes the mattes lack pigment or can be chalky, neither of which are true in this case. The palest shade goes on opaque, the mattes are buttery and smooth (pun intended!) and the shimmers have great pigmentation rather than just relying on sparkle. Plus with with fun names like ‘Spread the Love’ and ‘Extra Creamy’ you can help but smile! As mentioned earlier, this has a vanilla cake like scent to it, and is infused with cocoa powder the way the other palettes in the ‘food’ inspired range from Too Faced are. For inquiring minds: The palette does not actually contain any peanut ingredients.
I honestly thought this would be just another neutral palette from the brand, but it really is such a wonderful addition for those who love warmer tones in their makeup. The mix of pale gold with copper and terracotta, as well as the perfect blend of all over, transition and ‘pop’ shades is really well balanced. Too Faced knocked it out of the park on this one, and I for one am glad I rose above my peanut butter hatred to give this one a go! I guess the haters aren’t gonna hate today…
