Sunday Splurge | Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder
I know what you’re all thinking, “Isn’t it supposed to be Sunday Steals?” and usually Sundays are the days I post about awesome affordable beauty finds. Today however I thought I’d go the other end of the spectrum and post about something I think is totally splurge worthy and worth the hype.
Up until just over a year ago I was setting my under eye concealer with a regular old face powder or translucent powder. After a while though I felt like it would look dry and cakey under my eyes, and decided it was time to finally try something that was a bit of a cult classic backstage at the runways, Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder. From the first application I was sold!
The powder is a super feather light texture that doesn’t settle into fine lines, doesn’t cake up and gives the area a bit of a blurred smoothed out effect. It has a light reflecting component to it, that doesn’t translate into sparkle as some illuminating powders do given how finely milled it is. It also doesn’t flash back, like some setting powders can. When I sweep a bit of this under my eyes post concealer with my Real Techniques Setting Brush it keeps my makeup from budging all day, and keeps my undereye area looking fresh and bright right through an eight hour shift without drying the area out.
A tiny little bit goes along way here, which means even though a 0.14oz pot cost me $29 CND, it will last ages (mines over a year old and only have used) making it totally splurge worthy!
Have you tried a dedicated undereye setting powder before?
The last few years have shown us some incredible innovations in terms of mascara wands haven’t they? Gone are the days of the standard ole spiral brush – we’re seeing every shape under the sun, from hourglass to conical, spikes to combs, and everything in between. One thing we haven’t seen however is much innovation…
Are you bored of Mascara Mondays yet? Hopefully not because I really love trying out new ones for you all to review here on Girl Loves Gloss. I like to think of myself as a bit of a mascara connoisseur, and it’s probably the product that lets me down the most out of all I…
Hello everyone! Thanks for hanging in there during the crazy holiday season for the 12 Days of Giveaways! Ideally, I would have had these all out by Christmas but life/holidays/work has most definitely gotten the better of me this year! Next year’s resolution? Not to pile so much stuff on myself! Keep reading to see…
ARE SMALL CURATED EYESHADOW PALETTES THE WAY FORWARD FOR 2020? Fenty Beauty certainly seems to think so, launching 8, six pan eyeshadow palettes last month in curated colour schemes. I love the idea of small, well thought out colour themes after 2019 brought us mega palette after mega palette. The palettes are meant to be…
It’s Mascara Monday again and this time I put to the test one of the more unique looking mascara wands I’ve seen in a long time. While the recent slew of mascaras from the brand hadn’t impressed me, I still felt drawn to try out the CoverGirl Plumpify Blast Pro Mascara due to the beyond…
FRIENDS, I’VE BEEN A TERRIBLE BLOGGER THIS MONTH. Like relatively non-existent, and I get that it’s not great business. But life… Life just gets in the way sometimes. I have been squirrelling away lots of great post ideas, however. While September and October, in general, we’re just kind of crap months, I do have loads…
