Sunday Splurge | Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder
I know what you’re all thinking, “Isn’t it supposed to be Sunday Steals?” and usually Sundays are the days I post about awesome affordable beauty finds. Today however I thought I’d go the other end of the spectrum and post about something I think is totally splurge worthy and worth the hype.
Up until just over a year ago I was setting my under eye concealer with a regular old face powder or translucent powder. After a while though I felt like it would look dry and cakey under my eyes, and decided it was time to finally try something that was a bit of a cult classic backstage at the runways, Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder. From the first application I was sold!
The powder is a super feather light texture that doesn’t settle into fine lines, doesn’t cake up and gives the area a bit of a blurred smoothed out effect. It has a light reflecting component to it, that doesn’t translate into sparkle as some illuminating powders do given how finely milled it is. It also doesn’t flash back, like some setting powders can. When I sweep a bit of this under my eyes post concealer with my Real Techniques Setting Brush it keeps my makeup from budging all day, and keeps my undereye area looking fresh and bright right through an eight hour shift without drying the area out.
A tiny little bit goes along way here, which means even though a 0.14oz pot cost me $29 CND, it will last ages (mines over a year old and only have used) making it totally splurge worthy!
Have you tried a dedicated undereye setting powder before?

Alongside the palette, the brand has launched Maneater…
Contouring has been all the rage for the last year or so. Tons of brands are coming out with contouring palettes and kits, and so many YouTubers are doing tutorials on how to chisel and carve your face with makeup until you practically don’t look like yourself anymore. I’m personally not a fan of this…
Imagine a single product, a lip pencil for example, being so popular that it spawns an entire collection inspired by the shade. Well, that is exactly what happened with Charlotte Tilbury’s now infamous Pillow Talk Lip Cheat Lip Pencil. I’ve personally bought it a few times over now, after falling in love with the perfect…
The post wherein I wish smell-o-vision existed, because this stuff smells ah-mazing. After falling in love with Lush’s Rose Jam Shower Gel with annoyingly is a holiday time only product (seriously Lush, I need this all year round) I was desperate to get my hands on anything else that had that juicy genuine rose (ie…
My love of Stila’s Kitten Eyeshadow came about many, many years ago. If you read , you might even remember that it was the first purchase I ever made from Sephora. Since then it has become somewhat of a staple in my makeup wardrobe that has stood the test of time – and has gained…
